Today, 2 December 2022, the Western Balkans Fund is happy to officially announce the winners of the 5th Call for Proposals, co-funded by the European Union, IPA – Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance.
The 36 winners, divided equally between Contracting Parties, will receive up to 15.000 Euros in grants. In total, 500.000 Euros support this Call for the needs of Civil Society Organisations and other eligible beneficiaries.
The Call remained open from 20 May to 8 July. During this time, our team met potential beneficiaries in 12 Info Sessions, two per Contracting Party. For the first time, we piloted Info Days and provided remote mentoring available in all official languages of the WB Region.
More than 300 applicants initiated their applications through our online applications system, making the 5th Call for Proposals especially competitive.
The evaluation process, run simultaneously by international experts and internal staff, took place in September and October.
After completing all the remaining stages, including a two-week window to consider inquiries and reclamations from non-shortlisted candidates, we are happy to officially communicate the winners of the 5th Call for Proposal today.
The Awarding Ceremony will occur later this month, with the implementation phase starting immediately after.
We are happy and confident that this batch of the project selected for support will contribute to further large-scale cooperation and Reconciliation in the Western Balkans.

We are closing one of the best years since our establishment. For the first time in our history, we launched two Calls for Proposals only six months apart. We organised the largest Regional Conference combating hate speech and the language of disinformation.
However, we remain confident that the best is yet to come, and in the coming weeks, we will unveil new surprises and new funding opportunities that increase the reach and scope of our grants further.
